SPAIN BEATS FRANCE IN PARIS
On 26 of March France played against Spain in Paris. This game was very important for both teams. France was the leader of the group, while Spain was two points behind France. This happened because Spain failed to beat national
team of Finland on 23 of March. Coach of Spain Visente-del Boske said before the game that Spain looks for winning and draw would be a bad result. Spain started the game with two strikers, pointing out their attacking intent.
The game started with Spain's attacks and on the 5th minute Xavi Ernandes could have scored, but his close ranged shot went wide from a goal. After this Spain continued to attack, but failed to create goal-scoring opportunities. This was due to a good defending from france, who was playing on counter attacks. Spain had much more possesion but France didn't let them score goals. Even more, national team of France could have scored on 37th minute, when Frank Ribery had a great chance, but spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes saved his team. The first half ended with score 0-0.
The second half of the game started just like the first, with Spain attacking, but France defending well. The draw would have been a good result for France, but on 58th minute Spain scored the goal that they needed so much. Pedro Rodrigues was the first on the ball after Nacho Monreal's great pass. The goal changed everything and now France needed to score. They started to attack more and their attacks were dangerous. However, Spanish defenders were not making any mistakes and were playing with confidence. On 78th minute french player Paul Pogba was sent off after referee showed him two yellow cards. After this it became very difficult for France to attack and they were strugling to create chances. However, on 87th minute They were close to level the score, but Victor Valdes again saved his team from a goal. The game ended with score 1-0 in Spain's favour.
After the Game lot of comments were made. Coach of Spain Visente Del-Boske said: "The three points were the important thing and also that the players passed this test of their maturity. Pedro is very important for us,he is a great player".
Pedro Rodrigues who scored the only goal in the game, had his own say about this match:" It was crucial to win here. We could not slip up and I am pleased with the way everything turned out. I don't remember the way I scorred, but we won that is most important thing".
France coach Didier Deschamps defended striker Karim Benzema who failed to score a goal: " He did good things even if obviously he did not find the back of the net. his team mates managed to find him and he took part in the construction of the game. We lost to a very strong team".
Spain will play it's next game With Finland on 6 September.
